Below are links to the text in English of Japan’s tax treaties with the European countries shown. In many cases the links below connect to a database of Japan’s international treaties maintained by the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
Many of the tax treaties below were signed with both English and Japanese as the operative languages, some with English, Japanese and the language of the country concerned as operative languages. Some treaties, such as the treaty between Japan and China, only have as their operative languages Japanese and the language of the country concerned.
In the first two of these three cases the PDFs of the treaties below normally include the English language text, although you may have to scroll to the PDF in order to find it. In the last case where there is a link to an English language text this will normally be an unofficial English translation of one of the operative texts.
In all cases care should be taken to check that the correct treaty and related protocols or exchanges of notes are being referenced.
